Wixárika Ceremonial Immersion
w/ Don Eugenio
February 6 - 12, 2025
Join us for a deep immersion with the ancestral culture of the Wixárika nation.
This is a very special opportunity to be in an intimate container with a culture that has maintained their culture, language, and spiritual connection for thousands of years.
The ceremonial context created by the Wixárika is a profound celebration of life, and at the same time offers an opportunity for multi-faceted healing, deep immersion into community, and provides everybody a safe space to share prayers, music, and offerings to our "Creator".
Their "traditional healing ceremonies" are all night experiences around Tatewari (the sacred fire) in which Marakame Don Eugenio will chant at 5 specific points throughout the night in which each chant will be following by a cleansing with feathers and copal. In between these chants, the community present will have an opportunity to share their prayers and offerings.
Don Eusebio, a highly regarded musician (Don Eugenio's brother), will be sharing their traditional music in which it's nearly impossible to not dance joyously around the fire all together.

The Wixárika Nation
The Wixárika Nation (also known as the Huichol people) are an indigenous group native to the Sierra Madre Occidental mountain range in western Mexico, primarily in the states of Jalisco, Nayarit, Durango, and Zacatecas. The Wixárika have preserved their ancient spiritual practices, language, and traditions for centuries, maintaining a deep connection with their ancestral lands and beliefs.
Despite outside pressures, the Wixárika have fought to maintain their traditions, land rights, and spiritual practices. Their cosmology and rituals remain integral to their way of life, centered on harmony with nature and the cosmos.
Their religion is based on a deep relationship with nature, honoring deities such as Tatewari (the fire god), Tatei Yurianaka (Mother Earth), and Kauyumari (the deer spirit), along with the sacred peyote (hikuri) cactus, which is used in rituals to communicate with the divine.
The Wixárika undertake an annual pilgrimage to Wirikuta, a sacred desert in San Luis Potosí, where they harvest peyote and perform ceremonies to renew their spiritual connection to the land.
