This 5 week container is designed for you to get the most out of the profound spiritual initiation that is sitting in sacred ceremony. You will have everything you need to feel prepared and safe before arriving to Costa Rica. We will begin to cultivate the group field on our opening calls and the people you share this with will likely become your allies for life.
The cultural immersion of sacred ceremonies, talks and storytelling will be held by BenkiPiyãko, along with other members of the Asháninka People and the Yorenka Tasorentsi Institute . This is an incredible opportunity to be in an intimate container with Benki, one of the most respected and renowned indigenous spiritual leaders. He is known as a messenger of his people and of the Amazon for his work protecting the forest and planting millions of trees.
Ixchel Munay, co-founder of Yacumama will be holding the embodiment, self enquiry, preparation and integration practices. She has been walking the medicine path for over 20 years and is passionate about how we can achieve lasting transformation through integration practices.

Yacumama
Yacumama is a nature sanctuary of living spring water, crystal river pools, pure mountain & ocean air just a few hours from the Osa Peninsula – the 5th most biodiverse place on Earth. Half of the land is secondary forest, part of an important wildlife migration corridor.
On nearly 100 acres with expansive mountain and ocean views you can see regeneration in action - we’ve planted thousands of trees and are eating from thriving food forests. If you wish to stay longer, we are just 10-20 minutes from pristine beaches, organic markets, and fine dining.
As a cultural center, we are devoted to the unification of humanity, restoring culture rooted in ancient wisdom and reverence for the Earth. Yacumama serves as a living embassy for global artists and Indigenous wisdom keepers, having directed over $175K to Indigenous communities in the past four years.
The evolution of the project will be an intimate eco village of 20 homes and a longevity/wellness/fitness center.

Benki PiyÃko
Benki Piyãko is a globally recognised political and spiritual leader of the Asháninka People. Mentored from a young age by his grandfather Samuel Piyãko — a revered Antaviari, a healer and messenger of the Asháninka — Benki absorbed the profound knowledge of his people’s traditions, spirituality and medicinal plants. He is dedicated to sharing this ancestral wisdom and healing methods with the world.
Benki Piyãko embarked on his journey of reforestation, community development and education at a young age within his Asháninka community of Apiwtxa on the Amônia River in the Brazilian Amazon. Since the 1990s, Benki has collaborated with various institutions, non-profit organisations, global activists, and local indigenous and non-indigenous communities to restore degraded areas. His work has inspired individuals and groups to strengthen their communities and build projects to protect water basins, rivers, lakes, forests, and the environment as a whole.
Benki was honoured by the Brazilian government for his dedication to human rights in 2004; the Human Rights Award in Weimer, Germany in 2013; the Culture for Peace Award by the Chirac Foundation, in partnership with the Culture and Diversity Foundation in France in 2020; and the 43rd Niwano Peace Prize in Japan in 2026.

Ashaninka People
The Ashaninka belong to the Arawak linguistic trunk and are one of the largest Indigenous populations in the Amazon region, with more than 100,000 individuals. They occupy a vast and diverse territory, extending from the lower part of the eastern slopes of the central Andes to the Brazilian region of Alto Juruá, on the border of Brazil and Peru, in the state of Acre.
The Ashaninka People are spread across Peru and Brazil, with 99% of the population living in different regions in Peru’: Ayacucho, Junín, Ucayali, Pasco, Cuzco, and Huánuco. According to archaeologists and anthropologists, the Arawak Peoples, among them the ancestors of the Ashaninka, have lived in these regions for around five thousand years (PIMENTA, 2002).
Today, approximately two thousand Ashaninka live in Brazil and are unevenly divided in four indigenous territories, all located in the Alto Juruá region of the state of Acre. The largest Ashaninka community is located in the Kampa Indigenous Land of the Amônia River, a territory demarcated in 1992 by FUNAI, the National Foundation for Indigenous Peoples.
Samuel Piyãko, Benki’s grandfather, was the first of the Ashaninka to migrate to the Amônia River and build the community along with other Ashaninka families. He was a celebrated Ashaninka leader known for his visionary strategies to protect, empower and organize his community. He was also a “ãntawiari”, as the spiritual leaders are called in the Ashaninka language. He carried the Ashaninka knowledge of the forest and recognized his grandson, Benki Piyãko, as one of his heirs, who would be able to carry, protect and pass on the Ashaninka knowledge to his own community and others.

YORENKA TASORENTSI INSTITUTE
Following the success of previous projects in the municipality of Marechal Thaumaturgo, Benki created the Yorenka Tasorentsi Institute to expand his work in protecting biodiversity by transforming 2,000 hectares of degraded land into self-sustaining ecosystems, combining agroforestry techniques with both traditional and modern knowledge. His experiences have inspired the YTI’s holistic approach to community empowerment through a reciprocal relationship with the natural world.
The YTI promotes environmental awareness and has created a scalable model for alternative sustainable development — both locally and globally for indigenous and non-indigenous groups — through grassroots action to fight climate change, as well as promoting community rights and food sovereignty. This includes the YTI supporting the restoration and protection of Asháninka reserves in Brazil and Peru, and farmlands in Europe, the UK and the USA.
IXCHEL MUNAY
Ixchel has been walking the path of conscious living for 20+ years, which has been a continual journey of peeling back the layers of illusion and conditioning to intimately know her true essence.
She is a co-founder of Yacumama, an eco village and community sanctuary in Costa Rica and co-founder of Chakya Muna and artist community in Bali.
Ixchel brings embodied wisdom from her life as a mother, medicine woman, artist musician, dancer, yogi, mentor, entrepreneur, community builder & permaculturist.
For over a decade she has been supporting people in a return to wholeness through personalized coaching & mentorship programs, facilitating ceremonies, workshops, retreats and teaching at festivals around the world
A big part of her work is in supporting founders to find balance between business and the spiritual and relational pillars of life. She weaves together practices for body, mind and spirit to get to the somatic and subconscious roots of what is keeping you from embodying wholeness.
Her deepest prayer is for the liberation of all beings, for us to remember that we are already whole and already free.

LOCATION
Yacumama is in Ojochal, a small town near the Pacific Ocean, known for its international fine dining, which is part of the Ballena (whale) Coast.
We are 30-40 minutes south of Dominical and 15-20 minutes south of Uvita, where the Envision Festival has been held for the past ten+ years.
Yacumama is a 3-4 hour drive southwest of the international airport, SJO.
From San Jose or other airports in the country you can also take a 45 minute flight on a small plane or even hire a small private plane to Quepos airport which is about an hour drive from Yacumama.
